Quick Tip

Windows 10: Cut & Paste In Command Prompt

One cool new feature of Windows 10 – is that you'll now have the ability to copy and paste inside the command prompt using Ctrl C and Ctrl V. If you've ever had to copy a long instruction where you weren't sure if there needed to be a space in there or not, you'll really appreciate this.

Here's how to activate it. Open Command prompt and then right-click the bar. Select Properties. In the window that opens uncheck Use legacy console. Then under Edit Options, enable Insert Mode and Enable Ctrl key shortcuts.

Ok, most of you probably don't know this, but my daughter plays travel volleyball, which means I am the lucky parent who gets the privilege of driving ALL OVER THE PLACE to her next tournament! And for me, driving into a new part of a city or a new city in general is SERIOUSLY NERVE WRACKING! I mean, I have no idea where I am in these places!

I tried using my smartphone as my GPS, but than my mom would call or someone else in my family would decide they had to text me twenty times! I would MISS MY TURN and end up not having any battery life left to even snap a couple shots of the game. The whole thing was a mess…

This thing has it all - BUT - the best part about it is that you get FREE LIFETIME MAP UPDATES!

And you NEED updated maps.

And this one's got 'em for a LIFETIME!

Easy And Accurate - If you can press a button, you can use this GPS! Setting it up takes just minutes!

Just turn it on and press the "Navigation" button. From there you can set your destination and THAT'S IT! Just follow the directions and enjoy knowing EXACTLY where you're going!

Regular GPS devices have one set of maps that they came with and that's it. They're ALREADY outdated by the time you pick them up off the shelf.

BUT THIS ONE CONSTANTLY UPDATES THE MAP!

Drive assured knowing that if your Magellan is pointing you down a road that road is ACTUALLY going to exist and be open for traffic!

This is simply the best way to travel!

Even if you don't intend to go far, a GPS makes it GREAT for locating houses or businesses in unfamiliar neighborhoods AND EVEN the best PARKING SPOTS!

This part is IMPORTANT! If you're driving alone, especially on long trips, the LAST thing you wanna do is pull over every half hour to double-check your map. Well, the second to last thing... because the only worse idea is reading the map while you're driving.

That's an accident WAITING to happen!

This GPS actually VOICES the directions. So while you're driving, you'll hear things like "At next light, turn right!"

It's simple, it's easy, and it's SAFE! The GPS is just like having your own navigator (you know, like a wife or a husband... without the nagging!)

So instead of glancing up and down until you ram headfirst into the car in front of you... you can keep your eyes on the road!

Mount it anyway you want or not at all! The mount comes right off so you can store it easily! It took us about 5 seconds to mount it

Crystal Clear 4.3" Touchscreen - No squinting or head bobbing to try and look at this screen! It's super clear and super big!

What else could make this the best deal you'll see all week...

AN UNBEATABLE PRICE!

Here's what you'd be paying if you went somewhere to grab one of these. Amazon has these new for $130.88. Even their sale price is outrageous!

Now, while they ARE worth that much (since it's the last GPS you'll EVER need) there's no reason to pay that much!

We've got the EXACT same model for... wait for it...

ONLY $59.97!

THAT'S OVER HALF OFF!

You're saving more than $50 by getting this at WorldStart! WOW!

It doesn't get much better than that.

(Now you can use that money you saved to fund a trip using your brand new GPS!)

http://store.worldstart.com/product/10636

With a deal this good we can't accept coupons on this. We are so very sorry about that! When you get a sale like this, you KNOW they won't stay around forever. If any are left by Friday the sale ends and they go back up to $119.97!!

Cortana Commands For Windows 10

Keith wrote this comment on our story about my favorite Google Now voice commands. "Any chance you know all the commands that Google understands (and Cortana). I tried to ask for a list but I get just one or two (or five) but nothing complete. Also since I'm asking does Google ever talk back (give verbal answers) if so what commands trigger that? I know if I ask Cortona to tell me a joke or give me the weather she will do that but if I ask for news she just shows me her news webpage and I have to (gasp!) READ!"

cortana

I know Keith! What kind of personal assistant won't read the news aloud for you? Cortana doesn't have that capability yet, but I would not be at all surprised if she can soon.

The list of Cortana commands is growing every day and I probably couldn't list all of them.

But I can give you a list of the types of commands she'll accepts.

Open – Say "Hey Cortana, open…. Just about any app on your PC and she'll open it for you.

Create – Tell Cortana to create a new e-mail, word document, calendar appointment or reminder.

cortana-email-steve

Show – "Hey Cortana, show me the local news headlines." or perhaps, "Show me my appointments for today."

Alarms – Tell Cortana to "Wake me at 8 a.m. tomorrow." or "Set an alarm for 4 p.m."

Take Note or Note – "Hey Cortana take a note. Make sure to look for latest Faye Kellerman book when you stop at library."

Remind – "Hey Cortana, remind me to turn on the slow cooker at 8 a.m. tomorrow."

Play – "Play my music." or "Play some Yo Yo Ma."

Math – Give Cortana basic math problems. "What's 3 x 27?" or "How many ounces is in a cup?"

Get – "Get me directions to the nearest gas station."

Tell – "Cortana, tell me a joke."

Then there are the questions:

Who – "Who's the governor of Ohio?

What – "What's the weather like outside? What time will Jet Blue flight 17 arrive? What time does The Avengers start at the Cinemark Theater is Maumee?" or "What should I eat if I want to lose weight?" "What's traffic like on I-475?"

Where – "Where is the closest pizza place?"

cortana2

Why – "Why did the chicken cross the road?"

How – "How's my IBM stock doing today? How do I get a passport?"

As I said, the list keeps growing. Those of you with Windows 10, do you have a favorite Cortana command? Share it with us in the comments.

In part 2 of this article, I'll look at some more Google Now voice commands.

Google's First Premium Tablet

Google has lifted the curtain on a new convertible 10-inch tablet designed for use at work. The Pixel C has a magnetically connected, removable keyboard, much like a Surface Pro.

pixel-c-google-tablet

It will be priced in line with more expensive tablets like the Surface Pro and iPad Pro – starting at $499 for 32 GB and will cost $599 for a 64 GB model.

Like the Surface and the iPad Pro, the keyboard is an extra purchase. It will run you an additional $149. The Bluetooth keyboard is charged by the tablet, so you won't have to charge it separately. Unlike a Surface, there's no physical connector between the keyboard and the tablet.

The Pixel C is the first Android tablet completely built by Google. Previous tablets have been manufactured in partnership with other companies. Unlike Chromebooks, which run the Chrome OS, this device will...

Connect Your Smartphone To A TV

Barbara from Illinois writes:

Is there any way I can watch movies I have on my phone on my TV?

It's possible Barbara, but it will depend on what type of phone you have, what kind of TV and what other devices you may own.

If you happen to have both a Samsung Galaxy phone and a compatible Samsung TV, you can use the the AllShare app to stream video to your TV. Both the TV and the phone will need to be connected to the same WiFi network, though.

If you have an Apple TV, you can use AirPlay to stream content from your iPhone to the television.

If you have Google Chromecast you can stream video directly from...

Change Your Firefox Theme

Themes provide a background for your Firefox browser which will appear in the tabs and background of the tabs. For example, instead of the regular grey tabs your Firefox browser probably has, you can change your tabs colour to pink, blue or any colour you want. You can also change the theme to an image such as stars, mountains or even a circuit board. With over 300,000 themes to choose from, you should have everything you need!

In this article, you'll learn how to change the theme of your Firefox browser and also download new themes from the Add-Ons Firefox Store.

Open Mozilla Firefox from your Desktop, Start Menu or Task Bar.

The browser should open up. Click on the button in the top right hand corner with three lines. This will open up a small menu with a series of options.

Books About Town

This summer, the National Literacy Trust, located in the UK, installed literature themed benches all over London. Then they held events to promote literacy throughout the summer.

The benches will be auctioned off for charity by the time you're reading this but you can still check out the amazing artwork of each piece.

Each bench was designed by an artist to represent books, characters, and authors that have something to do with Lodon. You can check out this article from the Guardian to see some awesome pictures of the benches being painted by their designers.

When you arrive at the benches page, what you'll find is a listing of the benches. You'll be able to scroll down through all fifty. Each listing shows the bench, its title, information about what the bench is representing and a More link. If you click the More link, you'll be whisked away to that benches specific page where you'll find out more about the bench, see a map of where it was located during the summer, and information about the artist who created and its sponsor.

Some of my favorite benches are: Mrs. Dalloway, Neverwhere, Samuel Pepy's Diary, Shakespeare's London, Sit Here at Your Own Risk, The Canterbury Tales, and Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly.

While I wish I could have seen these benches in person (that would have a been a really fun vacation idea) I'm glad that I can see them on the website. I think Mrs. Dalloway is the bench I'd bid on if I had unlimited funds and a place to put it.

Go check them out for yourself today!

Spruce Flats Falls In Autumn

Turned out third time's a charm – at least for me at Spruce Flats Falls in the Smoky Mountains National Park! As you can guess from the above, this was my third time to this falls. This image was captured at the Clingman's Dome area in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Eye To Eye With A Grizzly

We came upon this grizzly (complete with a large crowd of onlookers) in Yellowstone National Park. He was busy getting ready for winter while a barrage of shutters fired away. It's not the ideal situation, although he really didn't seem to mind. One thing I really liked about this guy was..(More)
